ILCA 2007 Convention and Awards
In the wake of one of the deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history, labor's response was immediate.
The extent of the disaster -and the Bush administration's miserable response - laid bare the deeper issues: racism, poverty, environmental degradation, globalization, destruction of worker power and the undermining of public services.
The ILCA 2007 Convention will gather the largest group of labor media activists and professionals ever assembled to tell the stories of New Orleans. For three days we - you - will be the media. We'll form teams to go out into the community to report on the people, the unions and the organizations making a difference. Use your existing skills and learn new ones at our Media Center. Create articles, blogs, radio and video stories that capture the issues behind the tragedy and their meaning for all of us. Together we will demonstrate the power of labor's voice!
This will be a working conference - unlike anything we've done before, so please put the International Labor Communications Association 2007 Convention & Labor Media Awards, October 18-20, at the Loews New Orleans Hotel on your calendar.
Entries have been collected for the 2007 International Labor Communications Association celebration of the best in labor media for 2006. The winners will be announced at the October convention in New Orleans.
More information will be available here soon.
